Perhaps nobody is coming over. Perhaps you are only going as far as the garden, or spending the afternoon with a book.
That does not make your own preference less important.
We choose a favorite mug because we use it every day. We keep a color we love in the kitchen because we enjoy seeing it.
Clothes can offer that same small pleasure. A pattern at your sleeve. A color you are pleased to see in the mirror.
You do not have to choose the quietest thing in the drawer simply because the day is quiet.
And you do not have to save every lovely thing for someone else to see.
Before asking where you would wear it, try asking: “Would I want to wear it tomorrow?”
